Fusion. Is this the new web?
Open a web design magazine or Google a search for design blogs, and you are sure to be smacked in the face with design fads, glitz and eye candy. However new these techniques are, I find them no more enjoyable than a parlor trick or a cheap shell game. Often enough, web designers and developers are no longer examining their designs for true form and functionality. Instead relying on the new is in and discernment is out.
Sadly enough the core of design is lost and those beliefs, once held close, are spun out of control, into an abysses. It is my belief to begin carefully examining ourselves with great thought and insight into what is the true form and function. It is only there, I was shaken to my core. I did find truth, because it was out there. Finding the ultimate "new" caused me to adhere to my design philosophy even more.
In this revelation, I find myself fusing together pieces of media, text, graphics, animation and video to weave an expression that reflects upon myself. This new brings an enlightened sense of self awareness and the ability to discern what is most advantageous for the end user.
Fusion is now the new web. It is not Web 2.0, CSS, XHTML, AJAX, Spry Widgets or even social networking. Yet it is not slipshod or haphazard but it is one of formal cognizance, consciousness and understanding. It is then you have achieved Fusion - the new web.
My design philosophy:
To create, develop and design interactive media that is unassuming, innovative, intuitive and functional. I will not rely on design fads or dysfunctional design schemes that lead the end user to be confused and generally dissatisfied.
